BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The County Commission will resume its regular meeting schedule on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 with a Commission Meeting beginning at 10AM and a Public Hearing, preceded by Good and Welfare, beginning at 2PM.

Meetings are televised live on participating cable channels, and rebroadcast beginning each Friday at 5:30PM. Participating cable channels include Comcast channels 12 and 77 and Advanced Communications channels 25 and 42. Commission meetings are also broadcast on AT&T U-verse channel 99, and webcast live on VideoCentral.

As part of Broward County’s ongoing commitment to transparency in government, video recordings of Commission meetings, including Public Hearings and Good and Welfare, will be posted online beginning with the August 12th meeting, and will typically be available for on-demand viewing by noon the following Wednesday. Archived online meetings can be found on the Broward County Commission Meetings and Agenda page.

Anyone with online access will find a variety of important information on this new and improved website, most of which, including archived meeting viewing, is now presented in “responsive design.” It’s a Web best practice that makes a site more readily accessible across multiple mobile devices, including Apple and Android smartphones and tablets. From the website, residents can:

View Commission Meeting Schedules – The County Commission meets in formal session on Tuesdays at 10AM in Room 422 of the Broward County Governmental Center, 115 S. Andrews Ave., in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Public hearings are held the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 2PM, and there are periodic Board workshops. A Commission meeting calendar is posted on the website and updated throughout the year. A separate schedule of all the County’s “sunshine” meetings is also posted here.

View Commission Meeting Agendas – Commission Meeting and Public Hearing agendas, along with back-up materials, are posted online prior to each meeting, typically on the preceding Thursday. You can subscribe to receive an email notification each time a new agenda is posted. Please note that supplemental agenda items may be added to the current agenda at any time prior to the Commission Meeting. Check online for the possible addition of supplemental agenda items before the meeting begins.

Access Meeting Archives – Beginning with the August 12, 2014 meeting, an archive of commission meeting videos will be posted to the website and available for online, on demand viewing, typically by noon each Wednesday. A comprehensive archive of commission meeting action agendas and meeting minutes is also available online, beginning with the Commission’s first meeting on July 23, 1915.

Get Involved – Residents are encouraged to participate in the local government process, by signing up to speak at a Commission Meeting and/or Public Hearing. If the subject you wish to address is not on the agenda or part of an agenda item, you must submit a Delegation Request to address the Board of County Commissioners. Procedures for addressing the County Commission on any subject within the scope of the Commission’s authority are posted on this website.

Also included on the site are Related Links and a robust list of links to related Resources.

The County Commission is comprised of nine members elected by district in partisan elections.
