BROWARD COUNTY, FL – The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is accepting resumes from Broward residents interested in appointment to the Historic Preservation Board.  To be considered, interested individuals must be a Broward County resident and a practicing or retired professional in one of the following areas:

• General or building contractor
• Conservation or curation
• Professional engineering
• Historic architecture, architectural history or an allied or related profession
• Archaeology, anthropology or cultural anthropology
• Historic preservation
• History or folklore
• Planning and land use related to historic preservation
• Licensed architect with demonstrable historic preservation experience

The mission of the Historic Preservation Board is to provide for the protection, enhancement and longevity of cultural resources, properties and structures of historical, archaeological and architectural merit in the County. 

The Historic Preservation Board also works to execute and accomplish the protection, enhancement, and perpetuation of buildings, structures, improvements, archaeological resources, landscape features, and architectural resources of sites and districts that represent distinctive elements of the County’s cultural, social, economic, political, scientific, religious, prehistoric and architectural history.

About Planning and Redevelopment
The Planning and Redevelopment Division leads and participates in multiple programs, including managing the County's sustainability and redevelopment planning initiatives; coordinating corridor redevelopment plans that will increase the tax base; preparing and administering elements of the Broward County Comprehensive Plan; participating in municipal and unincorporated area redevelopment; coordinating the implementation of Complete Streets; supporting the County’s renewable energy and climate resiliency initiatives; promoting compliance with community standards in unincorporated areas through enforcement of applicable zoning codes and regulations; administering the Broward County Land Development Code; and overseeing site plan review for the unincorporated area. The Division also evaluates rezoning requests, land use plan amendments and land use compatibility reviews; maintains demographic and economic databases; conducts research and analyses; develops Geographic Information System (GIS) applications; and coordinates the County’s GIS Program.
