BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County Administrator Bertha Henry has announced Henry Sniezek as Director of Broward County's Environmental Protection and Growth Management Department.

On Tuesday, May 24, 2016, the Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the County Administrator's  recommendation of  Sniezek as successor to Cynthia Chambers who recently retired after 34 years of service. "I am excited to have Henry Sniezek in this position. I know that he is committed to the growth and development of our community and to protecting our natural resources," said Henry.

Sniezek has served as the Department's Deputy Director since December 2014. Prior to that he served as Director of the Planning and Redevelopment Division and Executive Director of the Broward Planning Council, bringing with him more than 30 years of experience in planning, development, administration and management in Broward County. He has a Master of Arts in Urban Sociology from the University of Florida, with specialization in urban social structure and development. He has been a resident of Southeast Florida since 1962 and is a graduate of South Broward High School.

 

The Environmental Protection and Growth Management Department has seven divisions with more than 400 employees.

The Department's core business emphasizes service to its customers and stakeholders by addressing animal care and adoption, environmental, growth management, building code services, affordable housing, consumer protection and emergency management requirements of the private and public sectors within Broward County.
