Vice Mayor Dale V.C. Holness to Host 3rd Annual Juneteenth Celebration

Broward County, FL – On Wednesday, June 19, 2019 the Broward Black Elected Officials (BBEO) along with Broward County Vice Mayor  Dale V.C. Holness will host Juneteenth: Broward Black Action Plan 2.0.  The event is from 5:00 pm to 9 pm at the Historic Old Dillard Museum, the first school for Black students in Broward County.

Celebrated nationwide on June 19th, Juneteenth also known as Freedom Day, commemorates the abolition of slavery in the United States.  “Our first Juneteenth event was in June 2017 where we unveiled the Broward Black Action Plan (BBAP).  Since our unveiling of the BBAP, we have worked on the eight key areas of impact, identified the challenges, listed goals and came up with solution-oriented objectives. This event will be about connection, involvement, and action.  We are about solutions on how we can move the community forward,” says Vice Mayor Holness.

The evening will include discussions on the eight areas that are critical to the Black community: Education, Criminal Justice, Employment, Political Engagement, Economic Development, Health, Housing, and Transportation. Prior to the start of Juneteenth: Broward Black Action Plan 2.0, attendees will have an opportunity to network and receive information on services provided by different organizations and businesses located in Broward County.

This is a free community event, attendees are asked to RSVP by clicking here.  The Historic Old Dillard Museum is located at 1009 N.W. 4th Street, Fort Lauderdale, 33311.
