WHAT: BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. - The Broward County Parks and Recreation Division’s Special Populations Section continues its schedule of Teen Socials for 2014. These free events are for middle and high school students, ages 13 to 21, with developmental disabilities. Preregistration is required by at least seven days before the event. Each social features deejay music, dancing, socializing, refreshments, and fun. Note: Direct supervision of participants is not provided.

The next event will be from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, August 15, at Sunrise Civic Center, with a "Back-to-School Dance" theme. The program is co-sponsored by the City of Sunrise Leisure Services Department, in partnership with the Broward Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization. 
 
The final event, also from 7 to 9:30 p.m., will be on November 14 (Tree Tops Park), with a "Western Hoedown" theme. Again, participants are encouraged to dress in accordance with the theme.

Founded in February 1956 and accredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies, Broward County Parks and Recreation Division manages almost 6,500 acres, encompassing nearly 50 regional parks and nature centers, neighborhood parks, and natural areas at various stages of development.
