BROWARD COUNTY, FL - County governmental offices will be closed on Christmas Day, Thursday, December 25th and on Friday, December 26th. Offices will also be closed New Year's Day, Thursday, January 1, 2015. Clarifications and exceptions are as follows:
• All branches of the Broward County Library will close at 6PM on Wednesday, December 24th and Wednesday, December 31st, with the exception of the Nova Southeastern University Alvin Sherman Library, Research and Information Technology Center, which will close at 12 Noon both days. All County library locations will be closed on Christmas Day December 25th; Friday, December 26th; and New Years Day, January 1, 2015. Customers can visit the Libraries' website or download the Libraries' free mobile app, BCL WoW, to search the online catalog, place holds and renew selected materials.
• All Broward County regional and neighborhood parks, nature centers and natural areas will be closed on Thursday, December 25th, and open on Friday, December 26, 2014 and Thursday, January 1, 2015, with the exception of Deerfield Island Park which will be closed per its normal operating schedule. The parks’ regular weekend and holiday gate entrance fee of $1.50/person (children 5 and under free) will be in effect on Thursday, January 1, 2015. • Broward County Transit will operate Sunday/Holiday service on both Christmas Day, Thursday, December 25th and New Year's Day, Thursday, January 1, 2015. Regular service will be provided the day after both holidays. There will be no 95 and 595 Express bus service on Christmas Day or New Year's Day. Again, regular service will be provided the day after both holidays.
Customer service representatives will be available to take calls at 954-357-8400, (TTY 954-357-8302) on Christmas and New Year's Days from 8:30AM to 4:45PM and the day after both holidays from 7AM to 7:45PM. Paratransit representatives will be available on both holidays from 9:30AM to 4PM and the day after both holidays from 8AM to 7PM. • Animal Care and Adoption Center will be closed on December 25th and 26th, and on January 1st. On those days, an Animal Care officer will be on duty to handle emergencies involving animal attacks or bites, injured animals, and police requesting assistance. • Aviation Department administrative offices at Broward County's Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport will be closed all three days. Calls will be answered 24 hours a day for general airport related questions at 954-359-6100. All terminals and airport facilities will operate normally. • Broward County's Port Everglades Administration offices will be closed all three days; however, the building will be open during normal business hours for tenants. Port Operations' marine services will be provided at standard levels without interruption on a 24/7 basis.
• The Office of the Medical Examiner and Trauma Services' administrative offices will be closed, but all family and professional services are available 24/7. Call 954-357-5200 for information and assistance.
• The Broward Addiction Recovery Center will be open for triage/detoxification services. Call 954-357-4880 for additional information and assistance. Residential services will continue with no visitors or admissions. Administration, Admissions and Outpatient offices will be closed.
• The Nancy J. Cotterman Center, formerly the Broward County Sexual Assault Treatment Center, will operate and accept referrals for the Crisis and Child Protection Team units on a 24-hour emergency basis. Call 954-357-5778 for emergency intakes. For all other non-intake emergencies, call the 24-hour hotline at 954-761-7273 (954-761-RAPE) or TTY 954-765-4195.
• In Unincorporated Broward communities, there will be no garbage, bulk, or recycling collections on Christmas Day. Collections will resume on the next regularly scheduled collection day, and there will be regularly scheduled pickups on New Year’s Day, January 1st. Residents of all other Broward municipalities should contact their city or hauler directly for holiday scheduling information.
• The Southwest Regional Landfill at 7101 SW 205th Ave. will be closed on Thursday and Friday, December 25th and 26th, and on Thursday, January 1, 2015.
