Broward County is establishing a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) to help ensure that Municipal Services District communities are properly prepared to respond following a disaster or emergency situation. Volunteers from the District are needed to complete free basic CERT training so that they are prepared to work with emergency management professionals and other CERT teams to make a difference in saving lives and protecting property.

September is National Preparedness Month and a great time to learn how you can help your community during an emergency. CERT Basic Training for volunteers consists of six day free classes that last approximately three hours each. While topic areas vary, each class will focus on disaster preparedness and response.

If you are interested in volunteering to become a member of the BMSD CERT Team, please email Aretha Wimberly at
Awimberly@Broward.org.
