Plans for World Trade Center Announced at Doing Business with the World

BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Mayor Dale V.C. Holness and the Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development (OESBD) are hosting a special all-day free virtual event called Doing Business with the World and the World Trade Center Fort Lauderdale on November 13th from 10AM-5PM. The virtual event is free and you can register here or call the Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development at 954-357-6400 to RSVP. (See flyer and agenda) This event builds on the success of the Florida International Trade Center and Expo (FITCE), held annually for the past five years.

 

There will be an unveiling of future plans for a proposed World Trade Center in Broward County within the City of Fort Lauderdale. This virtual webcast brings together former Heads of States, Consul Generals, Trade Commissioners and Bi-National Chambers to educate local businesses about the best export, business and investment opportunities in over fifteen countries from five continents.

“Plans for a World Trade Center and virtual event will increase our on-going ability to restore the economy, rebuild our communities, and reduce the high unemployment rate resulting from COVID-19. The event will assist local and international businesses wanting to trade with the world and increase the economic strength and impact of Port Everglades, Broward County tourism and the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in a sustainable manner balancing economy, environment, and the community” said Mayor Holness.

The World Trade Center Fort Lauderdale license was purchased by the owners of the World Trade Center Sao Paulo who have expressed interest in building the World Trade Center Fort Lauderdale.

Broward Commissioners will also discuss the World Trade Center in Fort Lauderdale and the Doing Business with the World, Enterprise Florida/Broward Trade Mission to Ghana on Tuesday, November 10th at the regularly scheduled Commission meeting that begins at 10AM.

MEDIA NOTE:  Mayor Holness will be available for media interviews following the discussion at 1PM (November 10th) in the Broward Governmental Center lobby at 115 S. Andrews Ave. in Fort Lauderdale.

 To promote social distancing and avoid risk of additional community spread of COVID-19, the meeting will not be open to physical attendance by members of the public, the media or general County staff. The meeting will be broadcast and webcast in several viewing venues.
