BROWARD COUNTY, FL - In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, County governmental offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 24th and 25th. A few clarifications and exceptions are as follows:
- All branches of the Broward County Library will close at 6PM on Wednesday, November 23rd, and remain closed on Thursday and Friday with the exception of the Nova Southeastern University Alvin Sherman Library, which will close at 11PM on Wednesday, November 23rd. Customers can visit the Libraries' website or download the Libraries' free mobile app, BCL WoW, to search the online catalog, place holds and renew selected materials.
- All Broward County regional and neighborhood parks, nature centers and natural areas will be open on Thanksgiving Day and the day after Thanksgiving, with the exception of Deerfield Island Park, which will be closed per its normal operating schedule. The parks' regular weekend and holiday gate entrance fee of $1.50/person (children 5 and under free) will be in effect at applicable parks. - Broward County Transit will operate Sunday/Holiday service on Thursday, November 24th, and regular service Friday, November 25th. Customer service representatives will be available to take calls at 954-357-8400, (TTY 954-357-8302) Thanksgiving Day 8:30AM - 4:45PM and 7AM - 7:45PM Friday. Paratransit representatives will be available Thursday 9:30AM - 4PM, and Friday 8AM - 7PM. The Broward Main Terminal in downtown Fort Lauderdale will have customer service staff available 9AM - 4 PM Thursday, and 6AM - 8PM Friday. The Northeast Transit Center in Pompano will be closed Thursday; customer service staff will be available 11AM - 7PM Friday.
- Broward County's Animal Care and Adoption Center will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 25th. For emergencies only involving animal attacks or bites, injured animals and situations requesting police assistance, call 911. For non-emergency situations, residents can call Animal Care beginning Tuesday, at 8:30AM at 954-359-1313. Residents who have found a litter of kittens can find helpful information here. - The Aviation Department administrative offices at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport will be closed. Calls will be answered 24 hours a day for general airport related questions at 954-359-6100. All terminals and airport facilities will operate normally. The North Perry Airport administrative office will be closed. Calls will be answered 24 hours a day for general airport related questions at 954-359-1201. The Airport will operate normally. For additional information, visit the website.
- The Port Everglades Administration offices will be closed; however, the building will be open during normal business hours for tenants. Port Operations' marine services will be provided at standard levels without interruption on a 24/7 basis.
- The Office of the Medical Examiner and Trauma Services' administrative offices will be closed, but all family and professional services are available 24/7. Call 954-357-5200 for information and assistance.
- The Broward Addiction Recovery Center will be open for triage/detoxification services. Call 954-357-4880 for additional information and assistance. Residential services will continue with no visitors or admissions. Administration, Admissions and Outpatient offices will be closed.
- The Nancy J. Cotterman Center will operate and accept referrals for the Crisis and Child Protection Team units on a 24-hour emergency basis. Call 954-357-5778 for emergency intakes. For all other non-intake emergencies, call the 24-hour helpline at 954-761-7273 (954-761-RAPE) or TTY 954-765-4195.
- In the Broward Municipal Services District, there will be no garbage, bulk, or recycling collections on Thanksgiving Day, November 24th. Regularly scheduled collections will resume on Friday, November 25th. Residents of all other Broward municipalities should contact their city or hauler directly for scheduling information.
- The Broward County Landfill, located at 7101 SW 205th Ave, will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 24th and 25th. It will be open on Saturday, November 26th, from 8AM to 4PM.
