BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. - The Broward County Purchasing Division has announced enhancements to its vendor bidding process, including the launch of a new and improved electronic system for distributing solicitation requests and collecting vendor responses. The new system is being launched in partnership with BidSync, a nationally recognized industry leader in electronic procurement and bid notification solutions.

As the transition to BidSync takes place, the Purchasing Division will host workshops for vendors to train them on the new system. In the meantime, vendors are encouraged to visit
Broward.org/Purchasing to register in the new BidSync system.

Once the County begins issuing solicitations through BidSync, registered vendors will be able to submit solicitations electronically via the Internet, eliminating the need to submit fax or paper copies, in person or by mail. This will save time and money, and make it easier for vendors to do business with Broward County. The County will also realize benefits with improved solicitation tracking and results tabulation.

"BidSync makes the entire bid solicitation process more efficient," said Brenda Billingsley, director of Broward County’s Purchasing Division. "It streamlines the bidding and notification process, eliminates paper and reduces shipping and transportation costs associated with submitting solicitation responses.”

She added that the project has received the County’s “Go Green Seal of Sustainability,” a recognition reserved for County projects that meet the triple bottom line of sustainability, with benefits to the environment, economy and community. “This further demonstrates Broward County’s commitment to sustainable business practices and Purchasing Division’s commitment to innovation in public procurement.”

The Purchasing Division, which awards more than $663 million to Florida vendors each year with more than 40 percent going to Broward County vendors, has been recognized numerous times for its procurement practices. Recently, it was one of only 13 agencies in Florida to receive an Award of Excellence in Public Procurement and Best Practices from the Florida Association of Public Purchasing Officers, for innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity and leadership.
