BROWARD COUNTY, FL. – Broward County Transit (BCT) recently unveiled a new design for their website, Broward.org/BCT. The home page now features an updated look and feel, with streamlined content and enhanced functionality for any mobile device.

The improved site allows for better information gathering as travelers wait for their bus or plan their trip. The site is built in “responsive design” automatically adjusting to different devices, including smaller mobile and tablet devices without losing functionality.

Today, approximately 30 percent of visitors are accessing County webpages from a mobile device. In response to this growing trend, the new design provides more direct links to information such as trip planning, bus passes and fare information; fewer images for quicker load times, and a better user experience for mobile viewers. Regular visitors to the sites are encouraged to update their bookmarks.

Tim Garling, Director of Broward County’s Transit Division remarked, “Our passengers on the go who wish to refer to the BCT site for schedule times can now access that information on their smart phones and experience a quicker, clearer and more streamlined presentation.”

In a nod to the growing expectation for real-time information, the new sites also give prominence to advisories and special announcements to warn travelers of travel delays, route changes and detours.

Features:

  • More easily-recognizable Features bar on the left-navigation of the home page.
  • Live feed from the home page to BCT’s Facebook and YouTube.
  • Easier access to popular features such as Trip Planner, the System Map, eNewsletters, and safety information.
  • Instructional and informational videos on getting the most value and a better rider experience with public transportation.
  • Future plans will integrate BCT’s new, ‘real time’ bus arrival and trip-planning information from the home page.
