The Broward County Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is observing National Women's History Month, March 1st - 31st, by hosting A Community Conversation - Women 4 Women forum to understand the major issues affecting women and their families throughout the County. The information gathered during this conversation will be shared with the Board of County Commissioners, as well as state lawmakers through collaboration with the Florida Commission on the Status of Women.

The forum takes place on Friday, March 27th, 3-5PM, at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center, 2650 Sistrunk Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale. The forum is free and open to the public. For more information, please call 954-357-7800 or visit this website.

"Women's History Month is an opportunity to focus on concerns and topics that affect Broward's women and families. By hosting
A Community Conversation - Women 4 Women forum, we can make a collective effort to identify gaps women are experiencing in program services, as well as their causes. In the spirit of the CSW's mission, we continually serve as a catalyst in empowering Broward women to achieve their fullest potential," said Ghazala Salam, Chair, Commission on the Status of Women.

The theme of the 2015 Women's History Month is "Weaving the Stories of Women's Lives." The CSW celebrates National Women's History Month with a month-long exhibit highlighting the women leaders who currently serve on the CSW advisory board. "Meet the Commission on the Status of Women" is featured in an exhibit in the lobby of the Governmental Center, 115 S. Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, to recognize and celebrate the many ways these dedicated role models provide an expansive vision of what a woman can do. The Board of County Commissioners will present a proclamation recognizing National Women's History Month on Tuesday, March 17th, at the 2PM Commission meeting.

The CSW members are: Janice Carter, Suzanne Citere, Toby Feuer, Kimberly Greene, Eloise McCoy-Cain, Deborah Mizell, Sharon Ragoonan, Ghazala Salam, Leslie Sheffield, Janet Solitt, Marci Talisman.

The CSW serves in an advisory capacity to the Broward County Commission and through education and advocacy, identify and help resolve economic, health, social and other issues facing women in our community. For more information, visit
