2019 Strengthening Communities Through Libraries: STEAM Program Series

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Families and youth ages 6-14  are invited to participate in a new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) program series at Tyrone Bryant Library, 2230 NW 21 Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311. The series is designed to increase knowledge of STEAM concepts and careers, improve team-building skills and teach participants about valuable library resources. 

The series features hands-on and interactive experiences as well as problem-solving and team-building activities that provide a unique and educationally enriching after-school opportunity, particularly for children, teens and families who live in and near the 33311 zip code. Sessions will be held every Thursday at 4:30PM from April 8th through May 30th. Sign-up and orientation takes place on Monday, April 1st from 4:30PM to 5:30PM at Tyrone Bryant Library. 

The 2019 Strengthening Communities Through Libraries grant will provide Tyrone Bryant Library staff with the opportunity to showcase the important role libraries play in improving the 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, leadership and team building through the implementation of an educational engaging STEAM-based program series. 

Broward County Library is the recipient of a 2019 Strengthening Communities Through Libraries grant, made possible by the Youth Literacy grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, awarded by the Association for Library Service to Children.
