BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The Highway Construction and Engineering Division is pleased to announce that construction is underway on the NW 19th Street and NW 28th Avenue Mast Arm Conversion Project in Fort Lauderdale.

The goal of the County's program is to better protect larger, main intersections against hurricane-force winds and storm-harden them against future events so regional traffic flow can be quickly restored after a storm.

Project Overview:

• Upgrading existing traffic signals at the intersection to mast arms
• Reconstructing curb and gutter, sidewalks, ADA upgrades and roadway

When:
• Start Date: January 19, 2015
• Completion Date: April 2015

Traffic:
•Temporary lane closures will be necessary during construction.

Horsepower Electric has begun converting the existing traffic signal. Construction should be complete in April 2015, barring unforeseen conditions or weather delays.

Other projects currently underway include:
•Copans Road and NE 3rd Avenue
•Atlantic Blvd and Riverside Drive
•Andrews Avenue and NW 60th Street
•Copans Road and Banks Road

The County is managing the contracting and construction of this design/build project. Project Manager Michael Cleary can be reached at 954-357-5838.

During construction, contractor personnel and inspection staff will work closely with residents and businesses in the construction zone to minimize impacts caused by the project.

We appreciate your patience as this necessary upgrade is completed.
