BROWARD COUNTY, FL - As part of the US-Taiwan Eco-Campus Partnership Program, Broward recently hosted a delegation of educators, school administrators, and Taiwan Environmental Protection Administration officials.  The Program is coordinated through the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) with its Eco-Schools USA program and has motivated 60 schools in the U.S. and 60 sister schools in Taiwan in the second year (2015) to implement sustainability measures within their school practices and curriculum while sharing experiences with one another. In Florida, NWF's partner on this project is NatureScape Broward, which is actively engaged in a partnership with the School Board of Broward County.

The delegation attended a NatureScape workshop and toured three local schools to meet and collaborate on common themes.  Officials including School Board Member Lori Rich Levinson and Mayor Greg Ross of Cooper City welcomed the delegation at Griffin Elementary.

The U.S.-Taiwan Eco-Campus Partnership Program is one of the major projects of the International Environmental Partnership launched on April 14, 2014 by the Taiwan EPA. NWF, funded by Taiwan EPA, is conducting this three-year program with the aim to match 85 pairs of schools between U.S. and Taiwan, which brings the education communities in both countries together.
