Peanut Butter and Chocolate Pet Adoption Event Starts Friday

- Bring us a jar of peanut butter and we'll give you chocolate -

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Animal Care Division is celebrating National Peanut Butter and Chocolate Day with an adoption event where you can enjoy a sweet treat in exchange for a jar of peanut butter. The event runs Friday, July 22 - Sunday, July 24.

Bring a jar of all-natural, xylitol-free peanut butter and Broward County Animal Care will trade you a chocolate bar. Xylitol is a sweetener found in certain peanut butter than can be toxic to dogs. The all-natural peanut butter will be used for training and snacks for the more than 100 dogs housed at the shelter. Since chocolate isn't safe for dogs, guests will receive the chocolate upon exit.

"We provide our dogs with enrichment both in and out of their kennel every day - that means we go through a lot of treats and a lot of peanut butter," said Emily Wood, Animal Care Director.

Come see our loveable pets this weekend from 11AM to 5:30PM at Broward County Animal Care, 2400 SW 42nd Street in Fort Lauderdale. Adopters can visit Broward.org/Animal in advance to preview all available pets. Adoption fees will be waived and will include spaying/neutering, vaccinations, a microchip and a Broward County pet license.
