County's Small Business Advisory Board Elects New Leadership

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The County's Small Business Development Advisory Board (SBDAB) elected former Vice-Chair Shaheewa Jarrett Gelin, Esq., as Board Chair and Richard S. Bonchick as Vice-Chair. The Advisory Board was established by the Board of County Commissioners in 2001 to identify and evaluate issues specifically for Broward County businesses. 

"Small businesses create the majority of the jobs and serve as the economic engine for our local economy and it is a pleasure to serve and be an advocate for the small business owner," said Chair Jarrett Gelin, Esq. 

"I am very excited to be entrusted by my peers," said Richard S. Bonchick, ChFC, CLU at Alliance Financial Group located in Coral Springs. "It will be a great honor to help the backbone of Broward County's workforce - the small business owner. We are in an amazing place at an amazing time." 

The next meeting takes place on January 17 at the Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development (OESBD) in the annex of Governmental Center East located at 115 S. Andrews Avenue, Room A-680, Fort Lauderdale, 33301. SBDAB meetings are open to the public.

The Office of Economic and Small Business Development is responsible for promoting economic development and supporting Broward County's small businesses. Areas of focus include workforce development, business expansion and retention, small business growth, business development and outreach, international trade and export readiness, entrepreneurial development and promoting Broward County as a film destination.
