BROWARD COUNTY, FL – The Office of Economic and Small Business Development (OESBD) is excited to announce the start of the Engineering Inspector Internship Program which offers five County residents in underserved communities the opportunity to participate in on-the-job training with the Highway Construction and Engineering Division and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

Upon completion of the program, participants will earn FDOT certifications in road work supervision, entry-level asphalt paving and ground/soil inspection before the start of a project. The program is designed to last one year during the construction phase of the NW 27th Avenue Safe Streets Project.

“This program allows us to create career growth and life-changing opportunities for residents in underprivileged communities including Broward Municipal Services District (BMSD),” said OESBD Director Sandy-Michael E. McDonald. “We've worked with several community partners, including BMSD and Prosperity Broward, to identify candidates who would thrive in the program.”

The internship program supports the Board of County Commissioners' values and goals of ensuring economic opportunities for Broward’s diverse population and businesses. For more information visit our website or call 954-357-6400.
