Andrews Avenue Drawbridge Roadway Work

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - As part of the ongoing rehabilitation at the Andrews Avenue drawbridge in downtown Fort Lauderdale, Broward County Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division will be performing work on the bridge that includes pressure washing, concrete spall repairs, concrete painting, pavement resurfacing, and metal deck welding. The work will take place between October 18, 2021 and February 15, 2022, barring any unforeseen conditions or weather delays. 

PROJECT LIMITS: Andrews Avenue, south of Las Olas Boulevard to north of SW 6th Street (see attached map)

TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

•Daily lane closures will be in effect during off-peak traffic hours: from 9AM to 4PM for daytime activities, and from 9PM to 6AM for nighttime work. 

•From November 8, 2021, to November 12, 2021, for performance of pavement milling and resurfacing operations, Andrews Avenue will be closed (from south of Las Olas Boulevard to north of SW 6th Street) during nighttime and off-peak hours. During the road closure all traffic will be detoured to use the SE 3rd Avenue bridge via Las Olas Boulevard and SW-SE 6th Street.

•Pedestrian access will be maintained over the bridge at all times

•Boaters will notice minimal impact to navigation

•Variable message signs will be posted to warn affected motorists
