Coral Ridge Drive Bridge Rehabilitation to Begin

- Work begins January 18 in the cities of Tamarac and Coral Springs -

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division (HBMD) will be performing major rehabilitation on a County-owned bridge located on Coral Ridge Drive over the C-14 Canal in the cities of Tamarac and Coral Springs. The work zone is between Southgate Boulevard and Riverside Drive (see attached map). The rehabilitation will begin January 18, 2022 and conclude in September 2022, barring any unforeseen conditions and/or weather delays.

This project will mainly focus on addressing structural issues identified in the most recent Florida Department of Transportation bridge inspection report. Broward County has expedited the design of the improvements well in advance of unsafe conditions. HBMD developed an innovative design and construction method, one of the first in Florida, which minimizes construction impacts to the public by mainly working on the underside of the bridge.

During the portion of construction that occurs atop the bridge, one lane in each direction will be closed to vehicular traffic during non-peak hours, except for two weeks when the lane closures will be in place day and night to perform waterproofing of the deck and placement of new asphalt. Access to driveways and sidewalks will remain open. Variable message signs will be posted to warn motorists and pedestrians.

Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division can be reached at 954-357-6040. Project Manager Maggie Maher can be reached at 954-299-9956 or mmaher@broward.org.

Broward County appreciates your patience as we complete this necessary bridge repair project.
