BROWARD
COUNTY, FL - Broward
County's District 5 Commissioner Steve Geller is making sure that South
Florida gets back on the list of being one of the best places to film in the
nation.
Commissioner
Geller will host a Broward County Film Summit on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at
10AM in the Broward County Chambers, 115 S. Andrews Avenue, Room 422 in Fort
Lauderdale, Florida.
The Summit
will feature Commissioner Geller, Broward County's Office of Economic and Small
Business Development (OESBD) Director Sandy Michael-McDonald and Broward Film
Commissioner Sandy Lighterman.
Commissioner
Geller proposed the agenda item to create the Broward County Film Commission, which
won full approval from Broward Commissioners on November 4, 2021.
The Broward
County Film Commission is part of Broward County's OESBD which is led by
Director McDonald. McDonald has been working diligently to jump start this
program to accommodate the demand for film incentives.
Broward
County is fortunate to also rely on the expertise of our new Film Commissioner
Sandy Lighterman. She is a four-decade film and TV industry professional, capable
of further creating a thriving film and television industry in Broward County.
Now that we
have a new Film Commissioner and a vibrant local incentive program, we would
love for you to come and meet the team and let us share what our intentions are
for growing the film industry in Broward County.
At this
meeting, we will be hearing remarks from Broward County District 5 Commissioner
Steve Geller, OESBD Director Sandy-Michael McDonald and Film Commissioner
Sandy Lighterman followed by a Q&A session for questions from the audience. (Please see attached flyer).
