FLL Airport Job Fair Returns to FLA Live Arena, August 17

- Hundreds of jobs available from 20 businesses -

BROWARD COUNTY, FLFrom passenger and cargo airlines, retail shops, restaurants, and a range of other aviation service providers, many businesses at Broward County's Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) are on a recruiting mission to shore up staffing ahead of the next big wave of holiday travelers. To help airport employers in this effort, the Broward County Aviation Department (BCAD) is hosting its second annual job fair on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at the FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, from 9AM to 4PM. Approximately 20 FLL businesses are seeking to fill hundreds of part-time and full-time positions ahead of the traditionally busy year-end travel season.

With the peak of summer travel activity waning as families shift focus from vacation to back-to-school planning, airport businesses are seizing the opportunity to prospect for new hires and train them before the next rush. Participating companies include Spirit Airlines, FedEx Express, Gideon Toal Management Services, Hudson Group/AMS, Jet Aircraft Maintenance, Transportation Security Administration, Allied Universal Security Services, and Keolis Transit America.

At FLL, as airlines prepare to add new fall and winter routes and more concessions open, the job fair provides an opportunity for BCAD to assist employers in filling their vacancies or creating a pool of prospective candidates for future staffing needs.

"We've encouraged FLL employers to participate in the job fair because as our business increases, it's crucial to have sufficient staffing to provide great service to our guests," said Mark Gale, CEO/ Director of Aviation for BCAD, FLL's operator. "The job fair is a convenient venue for prospective employees to connect with a variety of airport businesses under one roof to match available employment opportunities with their skills and work experience. Additionally, airport businesses can establish links with dozens of potential employees."

FLL joins several other major U.S. airports in hosting job fairs in 2022 to help their tenants and aviation partners fill staffing voids in the COVID-19 era. Other international airports organizing job fairs have included John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia in New York, Washington Dulles, Tampa, Phoenix, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Harrisburg, PA, to name a few.

Although not required, we recommend facemasks for this indoor job fair for the safety of everyone in attendance. Parking during the event is free.

See attached flyer for more details and the pre-registration link.

Note: Media planning to cover the job fair can contact me with any event-related questions. The airport's CEO will be on-site for media interviews between 9:30-10:30AM.

About Broward's Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the Airport generated $37.5 billion in economic activity annually and nearly 18,000 direct, local jobs. Currently, FLL is one of the fastest-recovering U.S. airports, with domestic passenger traffic approaching pre-pandemic levels. In 2021, the Airport served nearly 28.1 million passengers. FLL is located in Greater Fort Lauderdale in the heart of Florida's Gold Coast. The Aviation Department, FLL's operator, is a self-supporting agency of the Broward County Board of County Commissioners that does not rely on local tax dollars for operations and capital improvements. The department also operates North Perry Airport, a general aviation facility for private and charter aircraft operators. Call 954-359-6100 for more information.
