BROWARD COUNTY, FL -
The Dan Barrow Memorial Bluegrass Jams,
which run from October through May, will resume at Fern Forest Nature Center
(201 Lyons Rd. South, Coconut Creek 33063; 954-357-5198). The park hosts these
free acoustic music sessions on the second Sunday of the month, from 2 to 4 PM.
The next event will be on Sunday, October 9th.
The ongoing program got under way in the mid-1980s under the
name Jammin,' then was renamed in honored of one of the founders. Now as then,
the emphasis is on musicians and listeners interested primarily in bluegrass,
as well as folk and mountain music. You're invited to bring your own instrument
and participate, or just enjoy the performance as a listener. Either way,
you'll enjoy the beautiful natural environment from the park's covered outdoor
amphitheater.
Along with the monthly Sunday-afternoon jams, there will
also be two special Twilight Sessions,
from 5 to 7PM, on Sundays, March 26th and April 30th, in 2023.
