NatureScape Broward Accepting 2024 Emerald Award Applications

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - NatureScape Broward is now accepting 2024 NatureScape Emerald Award applications for businesses, municipalities, schools, government facilities and homeowners which have demonstrated extraordinary efforts to promote or implement environmentally-friendly landscapes programs and practices. 

The County will present the Emerald Awards as part of the 22nd Annual Water Matters Day event at Tree Tops Park in Davie on Saturday, March 9, 2024.

Categories include:

  • Homeowner
  • Business
  • Municipality/School/Government
  • Special Achievement
  • Climate Change Leader
  • Legacy (Emerald Award winners that have continued to maintain a sustainable landscape and/or enhanced landscape for five or more years)
  • Landscape Architects, architectural design firms and landscape designers are encouraged to submit projects that incorporate University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences' (UF/IFAS) Florida-Friendly principles for single-family residences, multi-family, new construction, large properties and existing communities. Submittals must be both Florida-Friendly Recognized and National Wildlife Federation Certified. Find resources and guidance for professionals here.

Applications are due by Friday January 5, 2024. To qualify, landscapes must be recognized by UF/IFAS Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ program or be certified as a Wildlife Habitat with the National Wildlife Federation.
