BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division (HBMD) will be performing drainage improvements along NE 6th Avenue from NE 40th Court to NE 42nd Street, beginning on Monday, January 9, 2017, and concluding on or before February 28, 2017, barring unforeseen conditions or weather delays.
The purpose of this project is to alleviate flooding conditions. Construction activities include excavating, installing new pipes and drainage structures, backfilling, and restoring impacted pavement.
Traffic impacts during instruction include:
- NE 6th Avenue is a two-lane, two-way roadway. The corridor will be temporarily narrowed down to one lane only; flaggers will control north and southbound traffic
- Access to nearby businesses and side streets will be maintained to the furthest extent possible
- Parking in front of some businesses (within the work zone) will be temporarily unavailable. HBMD staff will coordinate with business owners to accommodate their parking needs.Variable message signs will be posted to warn affected motorists and pedestrians
