WHAT: BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – The Broward County Board of County Commissioners and the Parks and Recreation Division invite the public to a Paradise Pipeline Party, to celebrate the success of the new four-waterslide complex Paradise Pipeline at Paradise Cove, the water park at C.B. Smith Park in Pembroke Pines. The ceremony will be at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 26.

Paradise Pipeline opened to the public at the start of the 2014 aquatics season on March 21 and was an immediate hit, attracting twice the number of people the week of spring break compared with the same time period two years ago. (The complex was still under construction during the 2013 aquatics season.)

The colorful new waterslides are five stories tall and vary in length from 395 feet to 430 feet. Each open-body slide is 32 inches wide and, at any given time, moves more than 400 gallons of water through twists and turns that end in a four-foot-deep plunge pool. (Riders must be at least 42 inches tall and weigh less than 250 pounds; they must also be able to swim.)

The new complex complements other attractions at the 4.69-acre Paradise Cove water park: Parrot’s Point, a 12-inch-deep pool with two small waterslides and other interactive play elements designed for ages 5 and under; Sharky’s Lagoon, an 18-inch-deep pool with three waterslides (83, 93, and 125 feet long) and other interactive play elements; Crazy Creek, a 410-foot-long meandering tube ride with interactive play elements along the route; and the Paradise Grill and Sand Dollar concession facilities.

The 2014 aquatics season at C.B. Smith Park runs through October 26. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5:20 p.m. Days vary by the time of the season, with the facility open daily from June 5 through August 17. All-day admission is $9.50/person, which drops to $6.50/person after 3 p.m. Children under 1 are admitted free. Season passes are available for $76 per person and $228 for families of up to six.
