Broward County Transit Announces Service Adjustments and Enhancements Effective June 8

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. - Effective on Sunday, June 8, 2014, Broward County Transit (BCT) will make service adjustments and enhancements on Routes 2, 10, 11, 28, 36, 81, University Breeze, 95 Express-Miramar Regional Park to Miami Civic Center, 595 Express-Sunrise to Miami/Brickell, 595 Express-Sunrise to Fort Lauderdale, and 595 Express-Westgate Square to Miami Civic Center.

The service adjustments and enhancements are in response to passenger input to improve route services, overcrowding, on-time performance and overall service reliability on the routes. Passengers are encouraged to refer to the new timetables dated June 8, 2014, for exact schedule adjustments. The new timetables and schedules will be available on the website and all buses beginning Friday, June 6. 

Details of the service changes are as follows:

Effective Sunday, June 8

Route 2 -- Weekdays, Saturday, Sunday

Weekdays:

  • Service will be adjusted to every 20 to 25 minutes during peak travel hours and every 30 to 35 minutes during off peak travel hours.
  • An additional 9:30 p.m. trip will be added northbound and southbound to enhance service times from 60 minutes to 30 minutes from 207 Street and Westview Drive.
  • Northbound and southbound routes will now make a half trip at 11 p.m. to the West Regional Terminal. Passengers will need to change buses in order to continue on to their Route 2 destination, but will not have to pay an additional fare.

Saturday:

  • Service will be adjusted from every 30 minutes to every 30 to 35 minutes throughout the day.
  • An additional 5 a.m. southbound trip from the West Regional Terminal to 207 Street and a 5:35 a.m. northbound trip to Westview Drive will be added.
  • The first southbound trip from Westview Drive and University Drive will be adjusted to depart at 5:45 a.m.
  • Northbound and southbound trips at 9:30 p.m. and 10: 30 p.m. will be added to travel only as far as the West Regional Terminal.  This will improve late night service from every 60 minutes to every 30 minutes.  The 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. trips will remain full service trips. 
  • The 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. northbound trips will now end at Westview Drive and University Drive instead of ending at Sample Road and University Drive.

Sunday:

  • There will be schedule adjustments. Please refer to the new timetable dated June 8, 2014, for details.

Route 10 – Weekdays, Saturday, Sunday

Weekdays:

  • Service will be adjusted from every 30 minutes to every 35 minutes from approximately 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.
  • There will be schedule adjustments throughout the afternoon.  Please refer to the new timetable.

Saturday:

  • Service will run between 30 and 35 minutes all day long.
  • The last two southbound trips in the evening will depart from Camino Real and Dixie Highway at 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., with late evening service improved from every 40 minutes to every 30 minutes.

Sunday:

  • Northbound and southbound service from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. will be adjusted from every 40 minutes to every 45 minutes. 
  • Southbound service from Copans Road at Federal Highway/U.S. 1 will depart at 8:36 a.m. instead of 8:53 a.m. 
  • The last northbound trip from Broward Central Terminal will be adjusted to depart at 8:35 p.m. 
  • The last southbound trip from Camino Real at Dixie Highway will be adjusted to depart at 8:35 p.m.

Route 11 – Weekdays, Saturday, Sunday

Weekdays:

  • Service adjustments will be made from every 30 minutes to between 33 and 36 minutes starting approximately 6:40 a.m. to 7:15 p.m.
  • Trip times will change throughout the day. Please refer to the new timetable.
  • The last eastbound trip will depart from Commercial Boulevard and SR 7/441 at 10:10 p.m.

Saturday:

  • Service adjustments will be made from every 30 minutes to every 35 minutes.

 Sunday:

  • Service adjustments will be made at the start of service from every 45 minutes to every 50 minutes, until approximately 1 p.m., and then from every 55 minutes to every 60 minutes until the end of service. 
  • The last eastbound trip departing at SR 7/441 and Commercial Boulevard will be revised to leave at 8:30 p.m.
  • The last westbound trip from Federal Highway/U.S. 1 and Copans Road will depart at 7:50 p.m.

Route 28 – Weekdays, Saturday, Sunday

Weekdays:

  • The last trip from Memorial Hospital will depart at 11 p.m.
  • The last trip from Aventura Mall will depart at 11:05 p.m.
  • There will be minor schedule adjustments.  Please refer to the new timetable.

Saturday:

  • There will be schedule adjustments throughout the day.  Please refer to the new timetable.

Sunday:

  • An earlier first trip from Aventura Mall will depart at 8:25 a.m.
  • A later last trip from Aventura Mall will depart at 8 p.m. 
  • There will be schedule adjustments throughout the day.  Please refer to the new timetable.

Route 36 – Weekdays, Saturday, Sunday

The time points at Flamingo Road and Northwest 56 Avenue will be discontinued.  Please refer to the new timetables for exact schedule changes.

Weekdays:

  • The morning peak travel and midday service will be adjusted from every 20 minutes to every 25 minutes.
  • The afternoon peak travel service will remain every 20 minutes.
  • The evening service from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. will be adjusted from every 40 minutes to every 45 minutes.
  • The first bus from Sawgrass Mall will depart 10 minutes earlier at 6 a.m.
  • The first eastbound bus from University Drive will depart 10 minutes earlier at 5 a.m.
  • The last trip from Sawgrass Mall will depart 15 minutes later at 11:45 p.m.

Saturday:

  • The service will be adjusted from every 30 to every 35 minutes, and starting at 8 p.m. and lasting until 12 a.m., the service will be adjusted from every 40 minutes to every 45 minutes.
  • The last trip from Sawgrass Mall will depart 15 minutes later at 11:45 p.m.
  • Other schedule adjustments will be made throughout the day.  Please refer to the new timetable.

Sunday:

  • Service will be adjusted from every 30 to 40 minutes to every 35 minutes all day.
  • The first bus from Sawgrass Mall will depart 10 minutes earlier at 8:20 a.m.
  • The first two westbound trips that begin at Bayview Drive will start from Northeast 41 Street and SR A1A at 7:10 a.m. and 7:45 a.m.
  • The last two eastbound trips that end at Bayview Drive will end at Northeast 41 Street and SR A1A.
  • There will be other schedule adjustments made throughout the day. Please refer to the new timetable.

Route 81

  • There will be schedule adjustments throughout the day. Please refer to the new timetable dated June 8, 2014.

Effective Monday, June 9

University Breeze

Weekdays:

  • The last morning trip from Golden Glades will be adjusted to depart at 8:15 a.m. 
  • The last morning trip from Westview Drive and University Drive will be adjusted to depart at 8:10 a.m. 
  • The last evening trip from Golden Glades will be adjusted to depart at 6:40 p.m.
  • The last evening trip from Westview Drive and University Drive will be adjusted to leave at 6:40 p.m. 

95 Express – Miramar Regional Park to Miami Civic Center

Weekdays:

  • Morning trips from Miramar Regional Park will depart 10 minutes earlier, starting at 5:30 a.m. until 7:10 a.m. 
  • There will be other schedule adjustments made throughout the route.  Please refer to the new timetable.

595 Express – Sunrise to Miami/Brickell

Weekdays:

  • Morning trips from BB&T Center will depart 5 to 10 minutes earlier between 5:35 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.  The last trip from Brickell Metrorail Station in Miami will depart 5 minutes earlier at 6:40 p.m. There are other schedule adjustments made throughout the route. Please refer to the new timetable.

595 Express – Sunrise to Fort Lauderdale

 Weekdays:

  • The last morning trip from BB&T Center will depart 5 minutes later at 8:35 a.m. 
  • Evening westbound trips from Broward Tri-Rail Station will depart 5 minutes earlier starting at 5:00 p.m. until 6:35 p.m.
  • A new time point at State Road 84 and Federal Highway/U.S. 1 will replace the time point at Southeast 17 Street and Federal Highway/U.S. 1.
  • There will be schedule adjustments made throughout the route. Please refer to the new timetable.

595 Express – Westgate Square to Miami Civic Center

Weekdays:

  • The 6:20 a.m. and the 6:45 a.m. trips from Westgate Plaza will depart 5 minutes earlier at 6:15 a.m. and 6:40 a.m.  
  • The evening trips from Miami Civic Center will depart 5 minutes earlier starting from 5:15 p.m. until 7:45 p.m.
  • New service will be added from 5:10 p.m. until 7:40 p.m.
  • There will be schedule adjustments made throughout the route. Please refer to the new timetable.
