BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. - Broward County Commissioner Kristin Jacobs will participate in the 20th Anniversary Celebration for the Southeast Florida Clean Cities Coalition, tomorrow, Friday, May 16, in Coconut Creek.

Commissioner Jacobs, a long-time advocate for sustainability and national spokesperson on climate change, is one of several speakers, including industry leaders, local government officials, vendors and other stakeholders celebrating two decades of accomplishment for the Coalition, who works with vehicle fleets, fuel providers, community leaders and other stakeholders to reduce petroleum use in transportation.

The program begins at 8:30 a.m. at the offices of Enterprise Fleet Management, 5105 Johnson Road in Coconut Creek. Speakers begin at 9 a.m. Commissioner Jacobs is slated to speak at 10 a.m.

At 11 a.m., Broward County will be one of five local organizations recognized for their contributions to a cleaner South Florida community, in part for the contributions of Broward County Transit (BCT).  BCT director Tim Garling will accept an award on behalf of the Broward County Commission for “Outstanding Leadership in Sustainability.” Other award recipients include Broward County Schools, City Furniture, Florida Power & Light Company and TECO Energy.
