BROWARD COUNTY, Fla - The Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) will take-off and celebrate the opening of the new South Runway with two exciting activities that are open to the public.

Fun Day on the Runway
The activities will begin with “Fun Day on the Runway” on Saturday, September 6, 2014, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. This is a family event that offers tours of the runway, aviation exhibits, fire rescue trucks, BSO exhibits, food trucks, music, and activities for children.

Runway Through the Lens
The other event, “Runway Through the Lens,” is an artist's talk scheduled for Tuesday, September 16, 2014, from 6 – 7:30 p.m., at the Broward County Library, Stirling Road Branch, 3151 Stirling Road, Hollywood, FL 33312.

Artist-in-Residence Dawn Roe, will discuss her approach to the South Runway project by previewing works created in the field and in the studio over the last 15 months. Ms. Roe’s talk will include a slideshow, photographs, and video clips.

Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.
