Broward County Transit Announces Service Adjustments Effective October 12th

BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Effective Sunday, October 12th, Broward County Transit (BCT) will make service adjustments and enhancements to Routes 5, 7, 9, 19, 55, and add a new, Davie Park-and-Ride location on the 595 Express Westgate Square to Miami Civic Center route.

The service adjustments and enhancements are in response to passenger input to improve route service, on-time performance and to relieve overcrowding on some of the busiest routes.

Details of the service changes effective on Sunday, October 12th, are the following:

Route 7 – Weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays
Weekdays:
• Eastbound service from Pembroke Lakes Mall will be adjusted from 20 to every 25 minutes
• Westbound service from Pembroke Lakes Mall will be adjusted from 40 to every 45 minutes

Weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays:
• Time points at Park Road and Hollywood Boulevard and at Dykes Road and Pines Boulevard will be eliminated from the timetables; bus stops will remain the same
• Westbound service will end at Southwest 196 Avenue and Pines Boulevard instead of at US 27 and Pines Boulevard, on south side of Pines Boulevard after the loop
• Eastbound bus stop at Pines Boulevard and US 27 will be eliminated

Route 9 – Weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays
Weekdays:
• First morning trip from Riverland Road and State Road 7 /441 will start at 5:25 a.m. instead of 5:30 a.m.
• Service frequency will be adjusted from 45 to every 50 minutes throughout the day

Saturdays, Sundays:
• Schedule arrival times will change throughout the day. Please refer to new timetable

Weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays:
• Northbound bus stop will be added at the new, Davie Park-and-Ride lot at State Road 84 and Davie Road Extension

Route 19 – Weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays
• Two new northbound time points will be added to the schedule at Copans Road and State Road 7/441 and at Turtle Creek Drive at Walmart.

Details of the service changes effective Monday, October 13th, are the following:

Route 5 – Weekdays Only
• Service will be adjusted from 45 to every 50 minutes during late morning off peak hours
• Service will be adjusted from 30 to every 35 minutes in the early afternoon and during school hours

Route 55 – Weekdays Only
• Service will be adjusted from 30 to every 35 minutes beginning at the start of service until approximately 7 p.m.


595 Express Sunrise (BB&T Center) to downtown Miami/Brickell
• Due to growing ridership demand, service frequency will be improved from 30 to every 15 minutes in the mornings between 6:15 and 7:30AM and during the afternoons between 4:10 and 5:10PM
• Route will deviate from its current route to downtown Miami/Brickell. Morning buses will access the Brickell Metrorail Station via Southwest 2nd Avenue
• Service along South Miami Avenue will be during the afternoon and evening hours only
• The bus stop at Sawgrass Mills Mall will be discontinued due to low ridership

595 Express –Sunrise (BB&T Center) to Fort Lauderdale
• Due to low ridership, the number of trips during morning peak travel hours will be reduced from 6 to 3 trips and in the afternoon and evening peak hours from 7 to 3 trips 
• Westbound reverse trips will be discontinued from Fort Lauderdale Tri-Rail station due to low ridership
• Fort Lauderdale Tri-Rail Station and Sawgrass Mills Mall bus stops will be discontinued due to low ridership

595 Express – Westgate Square to Miami Civic Center
• Bus stop will be added at the new Davie Park-and-Ride lot located at the southwest corner of State Road 84 and Davie Road Extension. A total of 108 commuter parking spaces will be available for commuters
• Due to growing ridership demand, service frequency will be improved from 30 to every 15 minutes in the mornings between 5:30 and 7:05AM and during the afternoon hours starting at 4:15PM
• Griffin Road Tri-Rail Station bus stop will be discontinued due to low ridership
• Civic Center/Health District afternoon routing will be revised to the same as the morning peak hour routing
