Broward County Hosts Information Sessions for New Workforce Investment Program

Broward County, FL – The Office of Economic and Small Business Development invites the public to participate in two informational training sessions to learn about the County’s new Workforce Investment Program. The sessions will provide information on program requirements and procedures.

The free sessions will be held at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center, 2650 Sistrunk Blvd., in Fort Lauderdale on:

• Wednesday, January 28th • 3 to 4 PM
• Friday, February 6th • 11 AM to noon

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners approved this pilot program to encourage local economic development through the hiring of economically disadvantaged or hard-to-hire individuals. Contractors awarded County-funded contracts of at least $500,000 in annual payments are encouraged to participate by recruiting new employees through approved referring agencies such as CareerSource Broward, who will participate in the sessions.

The information sessions are open to the public; Pre-registration is not required. Individuals requiring auxiliary accommodations in order to participate in a workshop should make a request in advance.
