BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward is celebrating March as "Conservation Pays Month" in recognition of a monthlong contest designed to raise awareness of the need for water conservation. Throughout the entire month, the Broward Water Partnership (a collaboration of 18 local governments and water utilities) will be promoting the "Broward Mega, Money-Saving, Record-Breaking, Wild-Water Switcheroo" contest in which residents can compete to win a complete household water conservation retrofit, including new water and energy saving appliances such as a refrigerator, washer, dryer, dishwasher, irrigation system and water conserving plumbing fixtures for the kitchen and bath.

Residents can also receive $100 rebates for installing water conserving toilets.  For details, visit ConservationPays.com.  Additional water conservation tips can be learned this Saturday, March 14th at the 13th Annual Broward Water Matters Day event at Tree Tops Park at 3900 SW 100th Ave in Davie.

Since 2004, the Broward community has reduced per capita water consumption by 23 percent. Plumbing retrofits through the Conservation Pays program have saved 200 million gallons of water per year.
