BROWARD COUNTY, FL -  Come help us "Clear the Shelters" and save on adoption fees as Animal Care and Adoption teams up with NBC 6 and Telemundo 51 for a special  adoption promotion. Join us on Saturday, August 15th, from 10AM to 5PM, at the Broward County Animal Care Adoption Center, 1870 SW 39th St, Fort Lauderdale.

As part of the promotion, all adoption fees for dogs and cats will be waived. In addition, the $20 non-refundable deposit for lost/stray pets also will be waived during the event.

NBC 6 Meteorologist Ericka Delgado and Y100 Radio will broadcast live from the shelter throughout the day.

"We are very excited to be part of this special initiative," said Lisa Mendheim, Public Education Coordinator, Broward County Animal Care and Adoption.  "To be able to partner with
local media to focus on the subject of pet adoption and homeless pets in our community is vital to our efforts to save lives and give each pet the home they deserve."

The Clear the Shelters effort, sponsored nationally by Overstock.com, is a special pet adoption initiative taking place throughout the United States in order to highlight the importance of adopting homeless pets. This is the first time the promotion will take place in South Florida. Other participating shelters will include the Humane Society of Broward County, Miami-Dade Animal Services, and the Humane Society of Greater Miami.
