BROWARD COUNTY, FL -Broward County Animal Care will gradually phase out providing rabies vaccinations at its Adoption Center, 1870 SW 39th Street, Fort Lauderdale.

Effective immediately, rabies vaccines for dogs and cats will be made available only on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday from noon to 3PM.  The last day vaccinations will be given at the Animal Care Adoption Center will be Wednesday, September 30

The Broward County Rabies Registration tag will continue to be sold at the Adoption Center, with proof of a current rabies vaccine.

Residents in need of a rabies vaccination for their pet can visit a local veterinary provider or attend any of the Rabies Clinic events held throughout the County each month. Not only are rabies vaccinations and the County Rabies Registration Tag available at the Clinics, but pet owners are also able to purchase a microchip for their dog or cat-a service currently not provided at the Adoption Center.

"
We have seen an increasing interest in our community based Rabies Clinics and feel that residents will continue to have a convenient, affordable option for vaccination and microchip services." said Thomas Adair, Assistant Director, Broward County Animal Care and Adoption. "We continue to focus on increasing adoption and rescue placements and accordingly the shelter's medical staff are committed to sterilization and treatment of animals in our care. Our goal is to place dogs and cats into their forever home as quickly as possible."
