BROWARD COUNTY, FL - "It is a pleasure to announce Thomas Adair as Director of Broward County Animal Care and Adoption Division," said Cynthia Chambers, Director of Environmental Protection and Growth Management, whose Agency oversees Animal Care. "Adair brings a wealth of knowledge to Broward County having worked in both the public and private sector of animal welfare."

Adair has been with the County since 2014 as the Animal Care Administrator, where he managed daily operations for the clinic, kennel and field staff. He's been the Interim Acting Director for Animal Care since mid-April 2015. In addition to the duties previously listed, he was instrumental in the development of programs essential to lowering the number of  dogs and cats entering the County's shelter and improving live outcomes for lost or surrendered shelter animals that found themselves in need of a new home. "This is a very exciting time to be a member of the Animal Care and Adoption team. I am honored and grateful for this opportunity, and to serve the community and work with animal welfare partners and rescue groups," said Adair.

2016 will mark another great year for animals in Broward County with the opening of a new adoption center on SW 42
nd Street in Dania Beach. The Broward Animal Care and Adoption Center will provide air-conditioned kennel space, improved exercise and treatment areas as well as expanded clinic capabilities that should enhance successful adoptions.  The new center will also feature dedicated space for volunteers and staff to hold events to highlight the shelter pets available for adoption.

"I am also pleased to announce that Susan Pierce, Director of Animal Care and Adoption Division since 2010, will continue to serve the needs of the Division in another capacity upon her return," said Chambers.
