BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division (HBMD) will be performing bridge maintenance on the N Pine Island Road Bridge spanning the 2L-3W Canal, north of Sunrise Boulevard. This canal also serves as a boundary between the cities of Sunrise and Plantation.  Work is scheduled to begin on Saturday, December 19, 2015, and will conclude on or before Saturday, January 2, 2016, barring any unforeseen conditions or weather delays.  This work has been scheduled during the Broward County Public Schools' winter break to avoid impacting nearby Horizon Elementary and Blair Middle Schools.

DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this project is to perform a minor rehabilitation of the bridge. Construction activities include milling and resurfacing the existing asphalt pavement, rehabilitating the bridge expansion joints, repairing slope protection, maintaining the channel and applying new pavement markings.

PROJECT LIMITS: N Pine Island Road, both directions, between 1880 North Pine Island Road and  NW 20th Court.

TRAFFIC: 

- N Pine Island Road will remain open at all times

- Traffic may be 
may be limited to one lane in each direction Monday-Friday, 9 AM - 4 PM and Saturday, 8 AM - 7 PM 
- University Drive and Nob Hill Road should be considered as alternates to avoid delays
