BROWARD COUNTY, FL - If you're a regular visitor to the Parks and Recreation Division's water parks, you already know you're in good hands with our staff of well-trained lifeguards. Last year our patrons confirmed that by rating our water parks an average of 4.78 (on a five-point scale) when they filled out customer-satisfaction surveys.

Now independent confirmation comes that our aquatics professionals are among the best. The lifeguards at Tropical Splash at Central Broward Regional Park & Stadium have won the 2015 Gold International Aquatic Safety Award from Jeff Ellis & Associates Aquatic Safety & Risk Management Consultants, for consistently exceeding their criteria for aquatic safety certification. Lifeguards at Splash Adventure at Quiet Waters Park and Castaway Island at T.Y. (Topeekeegee Yugnee) Park won Silver Awards.

The awards are given only to aquatics staffs scoring in the top 30 percent of the audit criteria. According to Ellis & Associates, the customers at these three facilities "are consistently being afforded…the highest degree of swimmer protection currently available for the aquatic industry."

Tropical Splash, Splash Adventure, and Castaway Island, along with Paradise Cove at C.B. Smith Park, are now open for the season. Beginning Saturday, April 2, and throughout the month of April, the water parks will be open Saturdays and Sundays, 9:30 a.m. to 5:20 p.m.
