BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division (HBMD) will be performing major drainage improvements along Prospect Road from Andrews Avenue to Dixie Highway. The project is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, and conclude on or before September 2, 2016, barring unforeseen conditions or weather delays. In order to shorten the project duration and lessen impacts to traffic and the community, the contractor will be working 24 hours per day, seven days per week, utilizing multiple shifts during the major closure periods.

The purpose of this project is to alleviate flooding conditions at the intersection with Andrews Avenue, and to restore the functionality of the existing deteriorated drainage system. Construction activities include: excavating, installing new pipes and structures, backfilling, and restoring impacted pavement. In addition, the intersection of Prospect Road and Andrews Avenue will be milled and resurfaced.

During construction, westbound Prospect Road will be temporarily narrowed to one lane with the outside lane adjacent to the sidewalk serving as the only westbound-through lane. Two lanes on eastbound Prospect Road will remain open for the majority of construction duration. The intersection of Andrews Avenue and Prospect Road will remain open to traffic, however, northbound and southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Minor local roads within the limits of the project will be temporarily closed and detours will be in place.

Access to nearby businesses, as well as sidewalks, driveways, and side streets will be maintained and variable message signs will be posted to warn affected motorists and pedestrians.

Project Manager Vilma Melendez can be reached at 954-357-4967 or 954-203-8474. Or you can call the Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division office at 954-357-6040.

Broward County appreciates your patience as we complete this necessary road maintenance.
