BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County and Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact (Compact) partners announce the 8th Annual Southeast Florida Regional Climate Leadership Summit to be held October 5-6, 2016, in West Palm Beach. The Climate Leadership Summit is Southeast Florida's major annual convening covering climate change and sea level rise.

Entitled "Resilient Communities - Prosperous Region," the 2016 Summit, hosted by Palm Beach County and the City of West Palm Beach, will focus on various sectors including business, agriculture, community, and residents, and will launch the Compact's 2017 update of its Regional Climate Action Plan.

"Broward County benefits immensely from its participation in the Compact and we look forward to the opportunity to gather with our partners in West Palm Beach in October," said Broward County Mayor Marty Kiar. "Southeast Florida's regional approach to climate action has garnered national and global attention, and the Summit is our annual opportunity to celebrate our successes and strategize on our collective challenges."

The Compact, a partnership among Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe, and Palm Beach counties, regional municipalities, and many other stakeholders, aims to reduce regional carbon emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change. More than 400 guests attended last year's Summit in Key West in Monroe County, including many regional leaders and national and international experts. Broward County will host the 2017 summit.

More information about the Summit, including registration details and a draft program, is available
online. For more information about the Compact, visit their website.
