BROWARD COUNTY, FL -
Broward County is introducing the Safe Routes Broward (SRB) pilot program in the Broward Municipal Services District (BMSD). SRB utilizes an app that enables mobile and online users to report non-emergency safety issues in Central County and Broadview Park neighborhoods. This venture is the result of a partnership between Broward County, Broward Regional Health Planning Council and Urban Heath Partnership, as a component of the Healthy Community Zone (HCZ) initiative. This free app has been used in counties and municipalities across the country to track and address non-emergency issues. It is available free on Android and Apple App stores.

The SRB app uses GPS to recognize a user's location, provides a menu of common safety issues, includes options to upload pictures and give descriptive comments of reported issues, and routes reports to assigned responders in County agencies, for example Code Enforcement or Public Works. SRB for Central County and Broadview Park provides direct communication between users and the County through comment fields and options for email updates as reported issues progress to resolution. Reporting hazards and certain public nuisances in real-time becomes a quick and easy process when using the SRB app.

The SRB pilot program for the BMSD is available from August 1, 2016 through September 29, 2017 to report issues in Central County and Broadview Park.

A new mobile-friendly website Broward.org/MunicipalServicesDistrict was launched last year to specifically serve approximately 15,000 residents living in the Broward Municipal Services District, formerly known as Unincorporated Broward.
