BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The Broward County Aviation Department in partnership with the City of Dania Beach has completed traffic improvements to the intersection of Griffin Road and NW 10th Street, south of Broward County's Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL).

The project re-aligned NW 10th street to provide a 200-foot queuing area for vehicles at the intersection, minimizing construction vehicle traffic in the Melaleuca Gardens residential neighborhood. The project also provides a new northbound signal to the existing traffic signal, enabling a signalized movement to access Perimeter Road.  This airport-funded improvement provides a safety enhancement to vehicles leaving the Melaleuca Gardens residential community while also keeping construction vehicles using the temporary construction staging areas from having to drive on NW 10th Street and in front of Melaleuca Gardens.

The construction project started in May 2017 and was completed in July 2017. The improved intersection is now operational and will aid in reducing non-residential traffic in Melaleuca Gardens.

The project involved extensive coordination with the City of Dania Beach, the Florida Department of Transportation, Broward County's Environmental Protection and Growth Management Department and Public Works Department/Traffic Engineering Division.
