BROWARD COUNTY – Broward County’s Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) will display more than 40 works of art created by FLL employees. Their work will be on display from August 31st through February 2019 in the walkway connector between Terminals 3 and 4.
I Bet You Didn’t Know features a wide range of artworks including oil, pastel, acrylic, watercolor and silk paintings, wood sculptures, collages, jewelry, photography, blown glass objects, mixed media installations and a dance video.
“I’m delighted to see the talent and creativity demonstrated by members of the FLL community. It is an honor to showcase their artwork for our guests to enjoy,” said Mark Gale, CEO/Director of Aviation.
This exhibition, the first of its kind at the airport, will highlight the wonderful artistic abilities of 22 different artists/employees who work at that airport as flight attendants, customer service representatives, project managers, executives and more. The employee exhibitions will rotate every six months, offering other employees the opportunity to share their work with millions of airport visitors.
I Bet You Didn’t Know is a collaborative exhibition presented by FLL and Broward Cultural Division’s Public Art & Design program. “Employee art exhibitions are always my favorite. They’re an opportunity to engage and inspire employees as they learn about each other in a new way,” said Cultural Division Acting Director, Leslie Fordham.
“I love the idea of this project. I believe this is a great platform and an awesome way for artists who take their craft seriously while working a day/night job to showcase their work,” said Nelson “Jai” Demezier, a Southwest Airlines employee whose artwork is on view in the exhibition.

En Plane Air in Terminal 2: a colorful exhibition of 27 umbrellas made of painted paper plates with pipe cleaners, created by children ages 4-13 of Broward County employees who worked through Hurricane Irma at the County’s Emergency Operations Center.

En Plane Air in Terminal 3: an exhibition featuring paintings created by six to ten-year-old attendees of the Roosevelt Gardens Park summer camp in the Broward Municipal Services District depicting what they like about Florida.
