Short Informational Films Creatively Highlight Broward's Water Services

- Videos explain how drinking water is produced and wastewater treated -

BROWARD COUNTY The Cultural Division’s Public Art & Design Program and Water and Wastewater Services have released two, short, informational films: The Journey and Glass Half Full.

The agencies created the videos to inform residents and visitors about how drinking water is produced and wastewater is treated. They were produced by Delray Beach-based video production company Brave Man Media and directed by Damian Fitzsimmons.

The films take the viewer on an adventure through Water and Wastewater Services to explain how local drinking water begins with rain before it reaches your faucets. The wastewater treatment’s high-tech processes are narrated by 10-year-old actress Nyla Marie and her bear companion.

The documentaries are accessible and entertaining for all ages and make it simple to understand and learn about the systems that serve our community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

“We wanted to produce short videos that describe the process of where our water comes from and how we treat wastewater – how it gets to us and how it gets treated at the treatment plant. Through the creative minds of Brave Man Media and the spirited presentation by Nyla, we were able to capture a complex process and make it relatable to our customers,” said Water Wastewater Services Director, Alan Garcia.

The Journey was screened at the 4th Annual Filmed in Broward Film Festival in July and selected as an audience favorite to advance to the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLIFF), screening on November 11.

“The Cultural Division is proud to use this innovative approach to provide education and information about County services,” said Cultural Division Acting Director, Leslie Fordham.
