Good News! Red Tide Waning in Broward County

- Conditions improve as all Broward beaches remain open -

BROWARD COUNTY, FL – The latest Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) sampling results for red tide in the coastal waters off Broward County show only “very low” or minute “background” concentrations of K. Brevis.  Water quality improvements have been sustained through out this past week and no additional local red tide activity has been reported during the week.

Near shore monitoring will continue through next week as a precautionary measure.  Broward County cities affected by red tide will maintain informational warning signs along local beaches until the conclusion of red tide presence.

No additional beach visitor complaints have been reported in Broward County since Wednesday.  The number of fish washing ashore has greatly reduced and cities continue clearing the beaches daily as necessary.  The FWC is proceeding with caution as, while improved, low levels of red tide remain present in nearshore waters in Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties.  The FWC reports that red tide conditions on the west coast of Florida are improving as well.
