BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County has won 22 National Association of County Information Officers (NACIO) Awards of Excellence in 2019 - more than any other county in the nation. The annual competition recognizes quality of public information and education outreach campaigns by County governments. NACIO received 235 entries from 23 counties and 6 County associations.

Five Broward County agencies were recognized with a total of 2 Best in Class awards, 7 Superior, 3 Excellence, 10 Meritorious, ranging from awards for The Journey Wastewater Video and Penny Surtax Videos, to electronic newsletters for regarding Airport, Environment and Library News, to a Document the Floods Crowdsource Application.

The 2019 awards include:

2 Best of Class

• Cultural Division (1 award): The Journey - Wastewater Video, Audio / Visual Production - Podcasts in collaboration with Damian FitzSimmons / Braveman Media.

• Environmental Planning and Community Resilience Division (1 award): Document the Floods Crowdsource Application, Electronic Communications / Email Newsletter to Citizens.
  
  

7 Superior Awards

• Cultural Division (3 awards):  Broward Arts Facebook page, Best Facebook Page; Hello Creatives, Audio / Visual Production - Podcasts; and The Journey Wastewater Video, One Time Video Programming, in collaboration with Damian FitzSimmons/Braveman Media.

• Environmental Planning and Community Resilience (1 award): Document the Floods Crowdsource Application, Electronic Communications/Websites.

• Libraries Division (1 award): Data-Driven Decisions, Writing/Speeches.
• Public Communications (2 awards): Penny Surtax Videos, A/V Production - Video Series in collaboration with myAniStudio; and eCountyLine Commemorative Issue, Publications/Internal. .

• Aviation Department (2 awards): Airport Employee Emergency Training Program, Publications/Internal; and NewsFLLash, Electronic Communications / Email to Citizens.  
• Cultural Division (2 awards): Art Teacher of the Year 2018, Brochures / Multi-page; and Annual Planning Forum PowerPoint Presentation, Graphic Design / Special Graphics.   
  
• Libraries (4 awards): Library News - November/December 2018, Publications / External; Vet Fest, Special Projects / Ceremonies or Community Events; Library Website - Broward.org/Library, Electronic Communications / Websites; Facebook.Com/BrowardCountyLibrary - Broward County Library Facebook Page, Best Facebook Page.  
  
• Public Communications (2 awards): Passport to Broward, Special Projects / Public Education Campaign; Emergency Dispatch Protocol System Video, Audio / Visual Production - One-Time Video Programming.

NACIO is an affiliate of the National Association of Counties (NACo). The County has also received 20 National Association of Counties (NACo) awards for 2019, more than any other year, which recognizes innovative, effective and efficient County Commission programs and services.
