Petco Foundation Grant to Animal Care Will Help Save More Animal Lives

- The $250,000 is an investment in Animal Care's lifesaving work -

BROWARD COUNTY, FL -  Animal Care and Adoption is the recipient of a $250,000 Lifesaving Impact Award from the Petco Foundation to support pet retention and enhance shelter programs for pets.

Often people must surrender their beloved dog or cat to Animal Care for financial reasons. The Petco Foundation investment will help residents keep their pet, and funds from the grant will provide free microchips, wellness clinic services, supplies, and behavior training to pets of residents in low-income communities. By promoting and distributing these services to under-served communities, residents will receive the assistance they need to keep their dog or cat in their home. In addition, the grant will enhance pet adoptions by partnering with Dogs Playing for Life (DPFL), an organization that focuses on play groups and enrichment/behavior programs for shelter dogs to keep them healthier, physically active, less stressed and overall, encourages their well-being.

“We are very thankful to the Petco Foundation for their generosity and support of our efforts," said Lauralei Combs, Director at Broward County Animal Care and Adoption Division. "The grant is an investment in our comprehensive strategy to increase adoptions and help keep pets in their home. Support from partners like the Petco Foundation allows us to achieve these goals much sooner."

“We’re proud to support Broward County Animal Care’s lifesaving efforts to increase pet retention and adoption, and we remind the community that it takes all of us to create a lifesaving nation for animals,” said Susanne Kogut, president of the Petco Foundation. “We encourage all animal lovers to visit their local shelter and find out what they can do to help save lives. From donating, volunteering or fostering pets in their home, there is something everyone can do to help.”
