- Public Works agencies preparing for potential localized flooding -
  

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County is still under a local state of emergency for Broward County in response to the approach of Hurricane Dorian. According to the National Weather Service, Broward County is no longer in the cone.

However, since there is still a chance of tropical storm force winds and rain with potential localized flooding, the County’s Public Works agencies continue to work to prepare the community for any local impacts.


The Broward County Residential Drop-Off Centers for the disposal of bulk waste, household hazardous waste, and electronics recycling closed at 4PM today, Saturday, August 31, 2019 and will remain closed until further notice.

Locations include:

  • North Residential Drop-off Center at 2780 N Powerline Rd, Pompano Beach
  • Central Residential Drop-off Center at 5490 Reese Rd, Davie
  • South Residential Drop-off Center at 5601 W Hallandale Beach Blvd, West Park

This service is for participating cities only and proof of residency is required. If you are unsure if you are eligible for this service please call 3-1-1.

The Broward County Landfill located at 7101 SW 205th Avenue (US 27 and Sheridan Street) will be open every day of the week (including weekends and holidays) from 7AM – 7PM until further notice. Participating municipalities including the Broward Municipal Services District, should stay tuned to local news media or call Broward County’s Call Center/ Hurricane Hotline at 311 for information on resumption of services.   • Traffic Engineering staff is prepared to canvass the County’s 1,400+ traffic signals after the storm to determine and document signal status and damage. That information will be used to prioritize traffic signal restoration and repair efforts. Replacement signal equipment is ready for immediate deployment, if repairs are needed.
  • All of Broward County's construction project sites have been secured.
  • Bridges have been prepared for high water by removing (scouring) excess sediment and material from the bases. The three County-owned and operated drawbridges are generator-ready, in the event of power outages. Crews will continue to check and clear roadway storm drains.
  • Bridges will continue normal operations until further notice.
  • Debris removal equipment is pre-staged at strategic locations throughout the County.
