- Update on Closed County Services -
  

BROWARD COUNTY, FL -  Broward County is currently under a Tropical Storm Watch and County emergency management continues to closely monitor Hurricane Dorian. While it is unlikely that Broward County will experience sustained tropical storm force winds, several services are closed in preparation for potential impacts from the storm: 

  • Broward County Government ceased non-emergency business operations at 7AM September 1 and those operations will remain closed on Tuesday, September 3.
  • Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and North Perry Airport will close at noon today, September 2. Passengers should contact their airline for delays and cancellations information.

  • Port Everglades is closed. Passengers should contact their cruise line for delays and cancellations information.

  • Broward County Transit has suspended fixed route and Paratransit bus service for today, September 2. 

  • County parks, libraries and the Animal Care and Adoption Center are closed to the public until further notice. Animal Care staff remains on site to tend to the animals and keep the shelter clean.
  • All services of the Broward Addiction Recovery Center are suspended until further notice. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, go to your nearest emergency center.
  • All drawbridges are locked down to facilitate vehicular evacuations. There are no evacuation orders at this time.
  • County residential drop-off centers for the disposal of bulk waste, household hazardous waste and electronics recycling are closed until further notice. The County landfill at U.S. 27 and Sheridan Street is also closed until further notice.

  • Garbage, Recycling, Bulk Waste Collection Services are suspended Monday, September 2nd and Tuesday, September 3rd, or until further notice for the neighborhoods of Broadview Park, Boulevard Gardens, Franklin Park, Roosevelt Gardens and Washington Park, which are served by Broward County. Residents of all other cities should contact their city or hauler directly. Residents should stay tuned to local news media or call Broward County's Call Center/Emergency Hotline at 311 or 954-831-4000 for information on resumption of services. 

  • County tag offices are closed until further notice.  

Broward County public schools and the 17th Judicial Courts have also announced closures on Tuesday.
