BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Broward County Library now offers Kanopy, a free, on-demand streaming video platform with a collection of over 30,000 films and documentaries for all ages. The new service is available to anyone with a Broward County Library card or Instant eCard. Films can be streamed from any computer, television, mobile device or platform by downloading the Kanopy app for iOS, Android, AppleTV, Chromecast or Roku.

Offering what the New York Times calls “a garden of cinematic delights,” Kanopy showcases more than 30,000 of the world’s best films, including award-winning documentaries, rare and hard-to-find titles, film festival favorites, indie and classic films and world cinema, with collections from Kino Lorber, Music Box Films, Samuel Goldwyn, The Orchard, The Great Courses, PBS and thousands of independent filmmakers.

"Now more than ever, people are seeking ways to educate and entertain their families, and Kanopy offers amazing options for both," says Broward County Library Director Kelvin Watson. "It is a great addition to our existing services and we're proud to be able to provide this to our customers at this time."

Additionally, customers can access Kanopy Kids on the site for free through mid-April. Kanopy Kids has a diverse selection of educational and entertaining content for children ages 2 and up (with a focus on ages 2-8) which includes movies, TV series, animated storybooks, live action films and animated favorites.

Customers can stream up to six films (credits) per calendar month and have up to three days to watch before content automatically expires. However, during those three days, customers can watch the film as many times as they like. Kanopy also offers a curated collection of "Credit-Free" viewing films which don't deduct play credits.

Kanopy joins Broward County Library's line-up of great, free eContent that can be accessed from your computer or mobile device. Visit our Broward County Library eMedia page to access eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, music, movies, TV shows and online classes, including free access to Rosetta Stone language-learning resources.
