BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County Library's free program series, "Cultural Conversations at the Center," hosts an online discussion with the creative production team of the upcoming play, Let the Good Times Rolle: Life and Legacy of Esther Rolle at 100, as special guests. This free Facebook LIVE, event is scheduled for 5:30 to 6:30PM on September 2nd, as a program of the African American Research Library & Cultural Center (AARLCC), 2650 Sistrunk Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311, 954-357-6282. 

The topic for this Cultural Conversation is the iconic television sitcom Good Times, with a lively discussion on how good the times really were for television’s first Black nuclear family. This Cultural Conversation is inspired by Esther Rolle and the influence of her legacy, which changed television history with respect to the representation of Black women and the Black family.

Discussing the Black family on screen, and announcing the cast for Let the Good Times Rolle, are the play’s creative production team led by director Keith C. Wade, theatre professor at Florida Memorial University; assistant director, Darius V. Daughtry, founder and director of Art Prevails Project; and playwrights Sarahca Peterson, founder of The Round Table Project; and Monique Williams, published author and performance poet.

The production of the original stage play, Let the Good Times Rolle: The Life and Legacy of Esther Rolle at 100, is inspired by the achievements of award-winning actor Esther Rolle and will be performed at AARLCC on Saturday, November 7th at 2PM and 8PM.
